Peter Layzell (b1962) remembers sitting in his grandfathers studio and watching the still-life artist at work. He recounts how he made a suggestion to his grandfather which, to his surprise, was adopted. At the young age of six, this event had a profound effect which ultimately led to him - under his grandfathers influence studying Fine Art at Coventry University in 1984. Although current trends favoured larger than life canvases, he was encouraged to work with slightly smaller canvases, combining his Renaissance interests with his distinctive style of strong colours and fine detail.
